The Mini-Festival, a well-established event, now returns as KOMP, with a selection of contemporary music by the Hungarian Music Society. Presented for the 33rd occasion, the series, which comprises three evenings, is meant to be a platform for contemporary music, one that allows the classical concert experience to be more informal, facilitates a real dialogue and direct contact with composers active today, and turns premieres into more personal celebrations.
This concert’s programme includes more than ten compositions, among them Miklós Sugár’s work for a Beethoven anniversary; a chamber piece by Máté Bella, a young composer who has also garnered national fame with his songs, a piece by Zoltán Kodály Composition and Musicology Scholarship awardee, Viktor Molnár, a trio with a special instrumentation by the 85-year-old Kossuth Prize laureate Sándor Balassa and songs by 90-year-old József Soproni.
